Removal & Refinements

Answers to Orthodontics Patients Ask Most

Am I too old for braces?
Absolutely not. Orthodontic treatment is effective at any age — as long as your gums and bone are healthy. We treat patients well into their 50s and beyond. Clear aligners are especially popular with adults.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Treatment duration varies: minor corrections with clear aligners may take 6–12 months; more complex cases with braces typically take 18–24 months. We'll give you an accurate estimate at your consultation.
Do braces hurt?
Mild soreness for 2–4 days after fitting and after each adjustment is normal. This is the teeth moving — and it settles quickly. Clear aligners typically cause less discomfort than traditional braces.
Can I eat normally with braces?
With fixed braces, you should avoid very hard, sticky or chewy foods. Clear aligners are removed for eating, so there are no dietary restrictions. We provide a complete list of foods to avoid at your fitting.
What age should children start orthodontic treatment?
An orthodontic assessment at age 7–8 is recommended, even if treatment doesn't start until later. This allows us to identify any issues that benefit from early intervention, making later treatment simpler.
