FAQs – General Dentistry

How often should I visit for a checkup?
Most adults benefit from a check-up every 6 months. Some patients with healthy teeth and gums can extend to once a year, while others with more active problems may need to come every 3–4 months. We'll advise you at your visit.
Do fillings hurt?
With modern local anaesthesia, getting a filling should be completely painless. You may feel some pressure, but no sharp pain. We use topical anaesthetic cream before the injection itself, so even that step is very comfortable.
Is root canal treatment as bad as people say?
The reputation of root canal treatment is outdated. Modern techniques, combined with excellent anaesthesia, mean most patients report root canals feel no worse than a regular filling. Many patients are surprised by how straightforward it is.
What if I am nervous about visiting the dentist?
Dental anxiety is extremely common and we take it very seriously. Please tell us when you book — we'll allocate extra time, explain every step, and use a "stop signal" system so you're always in control. We'll never proceed without your full comfort.
How long does a typical appointment take?
A check-up and clean typically takes 45–60 minutes. Simple fillings take 30–45 minutes. Root canals may require 60–90 minutes or may be split over two visits depending on complexity.
